Beautiful periodontal and restorative Tx and documntation. I appreciate the conservative approach, good to see some very nice Boston style prosthodontics. Definitly a viable alternative to aggressive crown lengthening in some cases. Thanks.

Misunderstanding and probably the way I said it. When there is a mesial or distal furcation the adjacent surface to the furcation is shaped to remove the furcation. You avoid barreling in the furcation on the interproximals and work to remove adjacent tooth structure blending the furcation away. Hope this explanation helps. So add adjacent tooth surface to the sentence and it makes sense.
Thanks,
Danny

Dr. Melker: Thank you for the excellent presentation. Unfortunately I do not understand how a mesial or distal furcation on a maxillary molar can be treated by contouring the adjacent tooth. Can you please email cases? kauaiperio@gmail.com
Thank you!

Unni, obviously with this technique provisionals are mandatory. Interproximal furcations are handled by working on the adjacent tooth surfaces to the furcations and blending them thereby trying to eliminate the furcation not barreling it in like the buccal. The objective is to create a smooth surface for floss to work and not create an indentation.
Thanks
